Marble-lime plaster, fine
Mineral-based finishing material for interiors with wide range of use and good adhesion. The size of the marble-lime grain is up to 0.9 mm, which leads to smooth or slightly textured surfaces with a matte end result. The final result depends largely on the application technique, the final result of the tinted material remains cloudy.
- Binder: Marble lime hydrate
- Tools: trowel, putty knife
- Layers: usually 1โ2 layers
- Substrates: Mineral plasters, concrete, primed gypsum board
Cost standard
~1 kg/mยฒ (1 mm layer)

Composition
- marblesand
- quartz sand
- marble-lime hydrate
- cellulose
- methyl cellulose
Suitable for all sufficiently stable and sligthly absorbent indoor substrates such as mineral plasters, skim-coated and primed gypsum boards and concrete. Due to the high pH (13) the marble-lime plaster acts as a natural fungicide and is therefore particularly suitable for bathrooms and other humid rooms.
Consumption
Theoretical consumption is 1 kg/m2 when the layer thickness is 1 mm, in practice the average consumption is usually closer to 1,5 kg/m2 for one layer. The exact consumption must be determined on site as it depends on the absorbency and structure of the substrate as well as the application technique.
Features

- Does not contain preservatives
- Odorless
- Diffuse (breathable)
- Easy to work with
- Levels out minor unevenness
- Abrasion-resistant
- High pH (~13) โ inhibits mold growth
- Natural white tone
- Can be tinted with pigments (up to 5%)
Substrate
- Substrate must be uniformly absorbent, dry, clean of dust and fat, and stable. Substrate must not contain any penetrating or colouring substances.
- On gypsum boards the joints must be filled with joint compound, reinforced with joint tape and skim-coated with a fine finishing plaster then primed with a relevant primer.
- Brush surfaces clean of dust and sand. Remove all loose plaster and masonry, repair possible damages, and prime the substrate. On old plasters, remove glossy or heavily adhesive-impregnated surfaces mechanically. Remove any oil residues from concrete surfaces as thoroughly as possible.
- Thoroughly wash off old layers of distempers or leftover wallpaper glue. Remove loose layers.
- Clean mold-affected mineral surfaces with soda or Fungi Stop
- Slightly sandy, strongly or unevenly absorbent substrates as well as putty surfaces must be primed. In dry rooms, a casein primer may be used.
Mixing the plaster
To 1 kg of marble-lime plaster add 0,25-0,27 l of cold water. Add the plaster to the water gradually while stirring. Let it sit for 15 minutes before mixing again. Use a drill attached mixer for mixing. If necessary, the amount of water can be increased.
In case of tinted plasted, the pigments should be mixed together dry, then rubbed into a smooth paste with hot water and added to the water used to mix the plaster. The pigment paste can also be added to the prepared plaster mixture. The pigment can be sifted through a sieve to disperse more easily. Prepared plaster mixture can be stored in an airtight bucket for several weeks
HA:IM finishing salon recommendation:
Plastering
Temperature must be at least 8ยฐC. Avoid direct sunlight, draft, dirt and substrate temperatures below +8ยฐC and above +25ยฐC. Avoid too rapid drying. The mixture is applied to the surface with trowel or putty knife. Once the material has started to set, the surface can be refined with a sponge float, plastic smoother, or Venetian trowel. If necessary, the substrate can be moistened with a little water. Maximum layer thickness 5 mm.
The plaster can be applied using a trowel or putty knife in one or two layers depending on the desired final result. Allow the material to set until it is touch dry, while ensuring the surface has not dried completely and remains workable. At this stage, even out and refine the surface using a damp sponge float or trowel until the desired finish is achieved, then leave it to dry completely.
For a more durable finish, apply a soap solution with a brush no later than 24 hours after the final layer has been applied. Brush the gloss soap onto the surface in a thin, even and quick layer, working from the bottom upwards. If necessary, gently wipe the surface immediately with a soft cloth to remove any brush marks. Once the soap solution has been applied to a dry surface, do not polish the surface further with a trowel.
On tinted lime surfaces, the soap treatment may deepen the colour or produce the characteristic whitish haze associated with lime soap. For this reason, always carry out a test application before treating larger areas. The finished surface will have a textured, cloud-like, matte appearance.
