Marble-lime paint, smooth

Marble-lime paint (smooth) is a natural lime-based interior and facade paint, which creates a durable, matte and vibrant surface finish. Due to its high alkalinity, the paint naturally helps to inhibit mold formation and is well suited for both bathrooms and other damp surfaces. Tinted surfaces remain characteristically cloudy and deep.

  • Binder: marble lime hydrate (air lime)
  • Tools: large soft brush, paint sprayer
  • Layers: 2 layers for interiors, 3 layers for facades
  • Substrates: mineral plasters, concrete, stone, masonry, primed gypsum boards

Cost standard

~200 ml/mยฒ for one layer

Cost standard

Composition

  • marble-lime hydrate
  • marble powder and marble sand
  • water
  • methyl cellulose
  • citric acid

Marble-lime paint (smooth) is a traditional lime paint, suitable for both interiors and exteriors. The paint is based on marble lime and contains only natural mineral fillers. Thanks to its high pH level, the surface naturally inhibits mold growth and maintains good water vapor permeability. The result is a durable, matte finish that ages gracefully over time.

Ingredients and properties

  • Marble lime hydrate based

1. Preparation of the Substrate

Substrate must be clean, dry, stable and evenly absorbent. Remove dust, fat, loose layers and other substances that will reduce adhesion. If necessary, repair damages and prime the surface.

2. Paint preparation

Mix the paint thoroughly before use. When tinting, mix the pigments first into a paste and then add to the paint. If necessary, the paint can be diluted with up to 10% water.

3. Application

Apply the paint to the surface with a large soft brush or paint sprayer. Strongly absorbent surfaces can be lightly moistened before painting. Full coverage is usually achieved with two layers.

4. Decorative techniques

  • Soft cloudy result: use semi-circular brush strokes in different directions.
  • Rustic result: use crisscrossing X-shaped strokes
  • Avoid painting in straight vertical panes in order to not get visible borders between panes.
  • The brush pattern remains visible in the final result and gives the surface a natural look.

5. Drying

  • Working temperature min. +8 ยฐC
  • Drying time between layers at least 8 hours
  • Avoid strong drafts and drying too quickly
  • Strongly absorbent surfaces may be moistened before painting.

6. Maintenance and Recommendations

Clean with a soft cloth or brush. Acidic cleaners should not be used. In damp rooms and on higher-wear surfaces a soap treatment can be applied to improve durability.

HA:IM recommendation:
Marble-lime paint (smooth) is perfect for the restoration of historic buildings as well as for the finishing of modern, natural interiors and facades. The cloudy mineral surface creates a depth and liveliness that is not achieved with conventional industrial colors.
