Silifix – Mineral-based silicate primer and adhesive
Silifix is a mineral silicate primer based on silica sol and potassium water glass. The product strengthens mineral substrates, evens out their absorbency, and serves as a primer for highly absorbent and slightly crumbling surfaces prior to the application of silicate paints. Suitable for use both indoors and outdoors.
- Binder: silica dioxide salt (silica sol) and potassium water glass
- Tools: brush, roller, low-pressure sprayer
- Consumption: 0,10–0,20 l/m² (for priming)

Composition
- Silica dioxide (silica sol)
- Potassium water glass
Silifix is a high-quality mineral primer and bonding agent specially developed as part of a silicate paint system. The product penetrates deep into the substrate, binds loose mineral particles, and reduces uneven absorbency. Thanks to its composition based on silica salt and potassium silicate, the substrate’s water vapor permeability is preserved, and an ideal bonding surface is achieved for subsequent finish coats. Silifix is used both as a standalone primer and for diluting Siligrund and Silifarbe silicate paints.
Features
- Strengthens crumbling mineral substrates
- Equalizes the absorbency of the surface
- Excellent water vapor permeability
- Does not form a film on the surface
- High UV and weather resistance
- Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
- Ideal for lime and mineral plasters
- Part of the silicate paint system
Consumption
- When priming: 0,10–0,20 l/m²
- When diluting Silifarbe or Siligrund: approx. 0,03 l/m²
- The exact amount of material required depends on the absorbency of the substrate and is determined based on a test area.
Substrate
- Lime plasters
- Mineral plasters
- Concrete
- Old mineral-based surfaces
- Highly absorbent surfaces
- Mineral surfaces that crumble easily
Tools
- Brush
- Microfiber roll
- Low-pressure sprayer
1. Preparation of the substrate
The substrate must be dry, clean and sound. Remove dust, loose particles and damaged layers. Protect glass, ceramic, metal and natural stone surfaces from splashes.
2. Product preparation
Silifix is ready to use. Stir the product thoroughly before use. If necessary, use it to dilute Siligrund or Silifarbe silicate paints according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Application
Apply Silifix evenly to the surface using a brush, roller, or spray. For highly absorbent or unevenly absorbent substrates, use the product undiluted until the substrate is evenly saturated.
4. Further finishing
Before proceeding allow Silifix to dry for at least 12 hours. After drying, Siligrund or Silifarbe silicate paint can be applied to the surface.
5. Working conditions
- Working temperature: +5 °C up to +35 °C
- Do not use in direct sunlight, in the rain, or in strong winds.
- Avoid overheated surfaces.
6. Maintenance and recommendations
Silifix is an essential component of the mineral silicate paint system and helps ensure uniform absorbency, better adhesion, and long-term durability. On substrates with highly variable absorbency or complex surfaces, it is recommended to perform a test application before beginning work to determine the optimal material consumption and application method.
HA:IM recommendation:
Silifix is the best choice for preparing lime and mineral plasters before applying silicate paints. A properly primed surface ensures a more even color tone, reduces material consumption, and improves the durability and weather resistance of the entire finishing system.
