Marble-lime paint, coarse
Marble-Lime Paint (coarse) is a natural mineral lime paint that creates a matte, vibrant and slightly cloudy surface finish. Thanks to its coarse marble sand, it is ideal for creating decorative and rustic surfaces in both modern and historic buildings. Due to its high pH, the paint acts as a natural fungicide and is also well-suited for use in damp indoor spaces.

Marble-lime paint (coarse) is a traditional mineral-based finishing paint made from marble lime and coarse-grained marble sand. The paint contains no synthetic binders and creates a durable, breathable and matte finish. Thanks to its natural ingredients and high alkalinity, it is ideal for finishing both new construction and restoration projects. The tinted surface retains a characteristically vibrant and mottled appearance, and the final result depends largely on the application technique.

Substrate
Suited for:
- Mineral plasters
- Lime plasters
- Concrete
- Stone
- Masonry
- Plastered and primed gypsum boards
Not suited for:
- Wood
- Wood-particle board
- Plastic
- Dispersion-, emulsion-, oil- and glue paints

Tools
- Large soft brush
- Airless paint sprayer (min. 200 bar)
An oval brush creates a softer, cloud-like finish, while a square brush emphasizes the brush strokes.
1. Preparation of the substrate
The substrate must be clean, dry, sound, and uniformly absorbent. Remove dust, grease, loose layers, and other substances that reduce adhesion. If necessary, repair any damage and prime surfaces that are highly or unevenly absorbent. In dry rooms, a casein primer may be used.
2. Paint preparation
Stir the paint thoroughly with a paint stirrer before use. When mixing colors first mix the mineral pigments dry, then rub them with water to form a paste and add them to the paint. For highly absorbent surfaces, the first coat may be thinned with up to 10% water.
3. Application
Apply the paint to the surface using a large, soft brush or an airless sprayer. Full coverage is usually achieved with two coats. Stir the paint thoroughly before applying the second coat. Wet paint appears more translucent, but as it dries the color becomes more even and opaque.
4. Decorative techniques
A soft, cloud-like result
- Use semi-circular brush strokes.
- Change the direction and length of the brush strokes.
- Try painting the entire area, rather than painting it in zones to avoid visible borders.
A more rustic X-technique
- Use crisscrossing X-shaped brush strokes.
- Brush strokes remain more visible, and the surface takes on a more decorative character.
5. Drying and working conditions
- Working temperature min. +8 ยฐC
- Drying time between layers at least 8 hours
- Avoid strong drafts and drying too quickly
- Highly absorbent surfaces may be lightly moistened before painting
6. Maintenance and recommendations
Clean fresh stains immediately with a soft cloth or brush. Remove dried dirt with a damp, soft brush or cloth. Avoid acidic cleaning products and vigorous scrubbing.
HA:IM recommendations
The coarse texture of marble-lime paint is ideal for interiors where the goal is to achieve a natural, vibrant and handcrafted finish. Thanks to various brush techniques, you can create both a delicate, cloud-like effect and a more rustic decorative look. Its high alkalinity also makes this paint an excellent choice for bathrooms and other damp areas. In the kitchen we do not recommend using this product on countertops, behind stoves or sinks, where the surface is frequently exposed to dirt and cleaning.
