Substrate
- Clean, dry and strong
- Evenly absorbing and oil-free
- Suitable for mineral plasters, concrete, primed gypsum boards and paper wallpapers
- May also be suitable for application over dispersion paints (test area required)
- Not suitable for wet rooms and non-absorbing surfaces
Tools
- Large soft brush
- Paint roller
- Paint sprayer (min 200 bar)
1. Preparation of the Substrate
The surface must be clean, dry, sound and uniformly absorbent. Remove dust, grease, loose layers and other substances that reduce adhesion. If necessary, repair any damage and prime the surface.
2. Paint preparation
Mix the paint powder with cold water:
- For application with roller about 650 ml of water per 1 kg of powder
- For application with brush about 750 ml of water per 1 kg of powder
Let the mixture stand for at least 30 minutes and then mix thoroughly again. When tinting, first mix the pigments into a paste and then add to the paint mixture.
3. Application
Apply to the surface with a brush, roll or paint sprayer. Full coverage is usually achieved with two layers. The wet paint is often significantly more translucent than once it dries, and tinted paint dries several shades brighter.
4. Painting technique
Painting with a brush use crisscrossing or semi-circular strokes, avoiding painting in large straight panes. When working with a roller, first make crisscrossing strokes and then even out the surface with vertical movements.
5. Drying and conditions
- Working temperature min. +8 ยฐC
- Drying time between layers at least 8 hours
- Completely dry after about 24 hours
6. Maintenance and Recommendations
The paint should be mixed and used during the same day. Small quantities can be stored in the freezer for later corrections. Substrates with strongly differing absorbency can affect the uniformity of the final result, so it is recommended to make a sample surface.
HA:IM recommendation:
Vega casein paint is particularly well suited for natural plasters, restoration of historic interiors and spaces where breathable and healthy finishing materials are valued. The velvety matte surface creates a soft and elegant end result that cannot be replicated with conventional plastic paints.
